CONVERT FONTS TO VECTOR FORMAT
From time to time, customer’s submit art files that have fonts not contained in our system. This results in an Adobe Illustrator error message when the file is opened, warning that the “font is missing and a stock font will be substituted in its place’”. Needless to say, this means the text of your artwork won’t appear as you intended. To avoid this problem, be sure to always convert your text to vector art by using the “create outlines” tool.
Follow these simple steps to ensure the text will be preserved as you designed:
STEP #1 – Choose the Selection Tool (shortcut = “V”)
STEP #2 – Select your text (underlined in text format).
STEP #3 – Select the “Type” window, then select “Create Outlines” (Mac shortcut = Shift/Command/O, PC shortcut = Shift/Control/O).
STEP #4 – Your text should now be outlined in vector format.
An alternate method is to left-click to select the text (make sure to ungroup it from other objects first) and the right-click. Select the option “Create Outlines”. Your text will then be outlined in vector format.
